We love speaking to artists from their studios around the world! Ekaterina Moroz tells us about her mosaic workshop Moroz in St Petersburg.
Surrounded by palaces and parks, in one of the most beautiful suburbs of the cultural capital of Russia – the city of St. Petersburg – the bright and vibrant mosaic workshop Moroz can be found.
Founder of the studio Ekaterina Moroz, a mosaic master, combines knowledge and understanding of cultural traditions, her own artistic experience, and creative intuition supported by an academic education of classical Russian and Italian schools.
Ekaterina wanted to create a space where a person of any skill level and training can make a mosaic project in any technique under the guidance of a master.
“The different duration and complexity of master classes allows children and adults to realize the most incredible ideas: replicas of antique mosaics, famous works of art in mosaic technique, author’s projects,” says Ekaterina.
Ekaterina and her students participate in art exhibitions and replenish private collections for art connoisseurs. “Most of the works are for interiors. The studio provides an opportunity to learn the basics of classical mosaics, master modern typesetting techniques, and to learn how to work with stone, smalti and art glass,” continues Ekaterina.
“The studio format also allows people to celebrate private events like birthdays. It is incredibly interesting to spend a significant day with friends and relatives in a creative atmosphere. The main mission of the studio is the preservation of the cultural and artistic traditions of the country, as well as the promotion and development of mosaic art.”
