Congratulations to France-based Liz Jones, who won the readers’ vote in Issue 3 and a prize of £200. Here’s what she had to say about her winning piece.
“I only started glass fusing a couple of months ago (having previously only done stained glass) so I’m still very much a beginner and I have a lot to learn. I thought the technical level of the other entries would be extremely high, but I decided to enter anyway. When I saw that the theme was ‘growth’, my immediate thought was how I have grown as an artist and how my ideas could continue to develop through imagination, passion, reading, music, travel and nature etc. In keeping with the theme, I started with a question mark and just let the piece grow freely.”

Our recent survey shows that the competition isn’t amongst the highest-rated elements of the magazine, and there were just two entries in the competition in Issue 3, so we’ve decided this will be our last competition and we’ll invest the funds into our editorial instead. Thank you to everyone who has entered up to now and congratulations again to all the winners!
