Welcome to Issue 6 of Mosaic & Glass magazine. As always, first of all, I’d like to say thank you to all the contributors involved in putting it together. Once again, this issue features a great range of talented writers and artists. It’s such a pleasure for me to read (or write) about artists from all over the world during the course of producing the magazine.
Our front cover shows some of the team behind a new mosaic for London Bridge. Founder of the London School of Mosaic David Tootill long believed there was an opportunity to install a significant piece of mosaic art at this location and his dream is now becoming a reality. Turn to page 6 for the full story.
Our long read on glass this time features mixed-race ceramicist and glass artist Christopher Day, who tells stories about the black experience and tackles hard-hitting subjects head on. Read his story on page 26.
Plus there’s so much more! From artists writing to interviews and features, there’s lots of inspiration and interesting information to be found inside. You’ll also notice numerous, great technical tips direct from the artists. And Oliver Budd generously shares his method for creating permanent but portable mosaic panels in a tutorial on page 62.
Thanks to Rob Manning for the excellent graphic design once again – it’s truly art about the art!
And thank you very much to our advertisers in Issue 6 – the ads highlight a great range of services and products. There are some special discounts especially for you.
Finally, a huge thank you to you, our readers. If you like the magazine, I’d hugely appreciate it if you could help spread the word to your artist friends. So there’s nothing more for me to say right now except dive right in and enjoy the read!
