We’ve heard recently from a handful of readers in both Germany and France that their local post office was seeking to levy an extra charge of approximately €7-€11 at the point of delivery for VAT / admin as the magazine is arriving from the UK (now outside the EU). This has only happened with a few orders and the vast majority of orders to the EU have been delivered without this happening.
We believe it’s related to VAT being levied by EU countries on imports from outside the EU since Brexit. On researching further, this didn’t seem to apply to items below €22 previously and it also seems that, in practice, these VAT / admin charges are only randomly applied. Some other readers in EU countries have not had these charges applied on delivery.
